The adidas Barricade 13 carries on the legacy of being the ultimate court shoe, by continuing to instill confidence in your movement. When it comes to hardcourt stability and durability the Barricade has been an industry leader for nearly two decades, however with the last couple of iterations adidas has refined and put emphasis on improving the comfort and ventilation. The upper of these shoes features breatheable mesh and is reinforced in the high wear and drag zones with Adituff Recycled material; durability meets sustainability. Adding to the comfort and new to this update is the Dual Density Repetitor midsole cushioning, delivering a super soft and energetic response as you move around the court. Heel comfort and lockdown is maintained through the Geofit pods, while the tried and true Torsion System remains, to help you with intense changes of direction and sliding control. The outsole is equipped with Adiwear 2.0 rubber in a full herringbone design for maximum durability, traction, and sliding capabilities on clay courts.

Not durable at all.I have been an avid Barricade fan for over a decade, but recent releases have been disappointing to say the least. Depending on the frequency of play, a pair will last 2 to 3 months at most. My most recent pair, however, barely lasted 2 and a half weeks. I will be moving on from Adidas in search for a shoe that will last. If they cannot make them as durable as advertised, then there is not point in the 6 month warranty plan. The consumer will need to plan more returns, more purchases, which means more time and money spent on a product that is designed to fail.
Wide 14 is my favoriteThis feels like a faster lighter and cooler version. I'm not having durability issues neither. It is more narrow but I always buy wide, so the wide was perfect for me. Will need to stock up on these when they go on sale.
What happened?!I’ve been a loyal Barricade buyer for years, going all the way back to the Model 13—and even earlier, when Andy Murray first wore them. Back then, I didn’t like them at all. But Adidas made meaningful improvements over time, especially by reducing the weight, and I came back because the shoe finally delivered—particularly with the added confidence of the 6-month sole warranty. The 13s were outstanding. I recommended them to anyone who would listen.
That’s why this is so disappointing.
I bought the 14s expecting more of the same, and instead I’ve worn through the sole in less than a month, playing at the exact same frequency and intensity as before. What happened? The shoe looks great BUT, it feels like the durability of the sole has taken a major step backward. Even more concerning, the comfort is noticeably worse—the insole feels harsher, and for the first time in years, these shoes are actually hurting my feet.
I want to keep wearing Barricades. I really do. But right now, I’m searching for leftover pairs of the 13s while also starting to look at other brands for the first time in a long while.
Adidas, please take this seriously. You had something great with the 13s—reliable, comfortable, and a fantastic value. I’m asking you to listen to your loyal customers and bring that quality back. I want to keep choosing your product, but right now, it’s becoming harder to justify.
0 durabilitythey last not even a month
Narrow fit compared to previous BarricadesI've probably worn at least 7-8 different Barricades over the years, but this model was very narrow compared to the Barricades from the early 2000s. I could barely fit my narrow B width foot into these Barricades after placing my Pulse Power Step or VCTRY orthotics inside the shoe. The quality is still there, but I shipped the shoes back for fear the shoe wouldn't stretch out after trying them on the court. I still think Barricades offer one of the best durability options compared to other brands. It's frustrating for hard court players when shoe designers change the fit of their athletic shoes every year. I used to wear super thick Thorlo cushioned heel & toe socks to make my Barricades fit snug, but now even a regular thickness sock was too tight for these Barricade IV.
Comfortable but very very low durabilityI grew up using the barricades throughout my youth tennis career (2000~2010). Back then they were known for being battleships that were super robust and durable. I have been playing pickleball and bought a pair of barricades expecting them to be very robust. Unfortunately, it seems like the rubber on the bottom of the shoe is now very soft and has very poor durability.
Initially, the shoes were true to size out of the box, but the plastic side-piece by the front of the shoes caused me a lot of pain on the outside side of my right foot. I fixed this with an alternate lacing pattern and I was happy with how the shoes felt. But very quickly (within ~1.5 months of playing pickleball 2~3 times a week, 2.5 hours each session) I had worn a massive hole into the toe of one of the shoes. Within 3 months the hole was massive and I had worn thru the outsoles in numerous other places too.
I believe this is a problem with the latest generation of the barricades. My wife has the previous generation and does not have these durability issues. I hope adidas will return to the style of the previous generation
Too narrowAgree with other reviews that the shoes are much more narrow than in the past. Left foot going numb just wearing the shoe and sitting down for 20 minutes. Not a great buy
Not the same barricade of old..They changed the shoe, extremely narrow now. My feet were going numb on my first match. Long time barricade fan just jumped ship. On to Nike or Yonex.....
Almost disposable...These look good, but are complete garbage. They are not that "wide" and I wore all the way through the outer sole to the soft inside stuff after literally 4 or 5 sessions. Submitted for a warranty replacement, but NOT WORTH THE HASSLE. Switching to ASICS Gel Res X EE.
More comfortable, way less durableI wore through the toe area in these in roughly 2 weeks. The previous versions would last me at least a month or two. These are much lighter and comfortable on the court, but at a significant cost to the durability. These are definitely not a durability shoe any more, the outsole rubber is too soft and thin.
