Wow! It’ll be my go-to moving forward.Racquet: Wilson Clash v2
String: Luxilon ALU Power Black Limited Edition
Tension: 55 lbs
Level: 4.0 club player
I just recently switched to the Clash v2 after playing the v1 for several years. Tennis Warehouse offered free Luxilon stringing with the purchase, and while I’ve used ALU Power (silver) in the past, it caused the first elbow discomfort I’ve ever experienced in over 20 years of playing.
The silver wasn’t in stock, so I opted for the ALU Power Black Limited Edition at 55 lbs, and I’m very glad I did. The string delivers excellent power and control, with noticeably better comfort and touch than the standard silver version. Spin production remains strong, and the response feels slightly more muted without losing the crisp Luxilon feel.
Durability has also been impressive. Several hitting partners commented that, based on how aggressively I was striking overheads, the string should have broken, but it continues to hold up well.
Overall, the ALU Power Black LE has been a standout pairing with the Clash v2, offering a great balance of power, control, comfort, and durability. For players who like ALU Power but want a more arm-friendly, controlled response, this version is where it’s at, imo.
Much smoother than the silverGreat string! Took about an hour to break-in but after that it was pure delight! Noticeably more spin, touch and power than the silver version - seems strange, but true. Found this in the reel size so I grabbed it. Hope they continue to make this but I’m set for a while now.
Luxilon Alu Power 16gI've been using Solinco Hyper Gs for a few years and thought I'd give these strings a try. I noticed that the Alu Power felt a tad bit softer compared to Hyper G. The power felt pretty similar, but it took me about a week to break the Alu Power in, to really get a feel of how they work. Honestly I think they're good strings, but I wasn't getting the bite that I was looking for. I rated these a 4 out of 5 just because I didn't get the spin I was looking for, but it was definitely softer on the elbow, so I didn't have to put as much into my groundstrokes.
